Melbourne band Darlinghurst released their debut single Sorry Won't Get You Back on 2 August 2019.
Over these last 12 weeks the band has performed all over the country; from the Gympie Music Muster to the Deni Ute Muster; from Gold Coast's Groundwater Country Music Festival to Broome's Rhythm & Ride Festival; and also supported a wide variety of established artists including The Wolfe Brothers, Shannon Noll and Thirsty Merc.
Whatever and wherever they perform, Darlinghurst are creating a buzz and garnering a positive reaction, nowhere more so than at CMC and all major country radio networks who've helped keep Sorry … at #1 on The Music Network Country Music airplay charts for an incredible five weeks.
Only four other Australian artists [Morgan Evans, Amber Lawrence, The Buckleys and Lee Kernaghan] have scored the coveted #1 slot in 2019. Some seriously good company for a debut artist to find themselves in! Sorry … has also held #1 spot longer than any other Australian artist this year (currently 5 weeks).
12 weeks into their fledgling career comes the release of Darlinghurst's second single So Long So Long, a song that Kix Country Network's National Content Director Justin Thomson said "Darlinghurst can do no wrong, 'Sorry Won't Get You Back' is currently number one in the KIX Hottest 20. Great stage presence, great songs, dynamite vocals! … What's not to love? I'm really excited for this new single, and very confident 'So Long So Long' will be received well by country fans all over Australia"
Darlinghurst vocalist Cassie Leopold explains the essence of So Long So Long's lyrical intent: "After constant disappointment and relationship heartbreak, you're ready to move on and wear that pain around your neck like the grandest of diamonds. It's a song about finding strength, letting go and moving on. Or as someone else described it, a romantic take on a 'Take This Job and Shove It' attitude!"
Aside from the sassy and boldly defiant lyrics, So Long So Long rips and soars to the point where three minutes passes by in the blink of an eye.
Darlinghurst are touring throughout October and November, with further dates to be announced in December, culminating in a run of five shows in January around the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
So Long So Long, the 2nd single from Darlinghurst's upcoming debut album, is out NOW on Helium through MGM Distribution.
