Crusher

Random House has acquired a gritty urban thriller set in West London by debut novelist Niall Leonard, the husband of E. L. James, author of the Fifty Shades series.

The deal, securing World Rights for three books, was made by Annie Eaton, Fiction Publisher RHCP, with Valerie Hoskins of Valerie Hoskins Associates.

Niall Leonard is a successful TV screenwriter with a long list of credits including international hits such as Hornblower, Wire In The Blood and Monarch of the Glen.

Crusher is his debut novel, a compelling first person thriller. Finn Maguire, a 17-year-old school dropout, returns home from work to find his stepfather bludgeoned to death. He soon becomes the police's prime suspect, and sets out to nail the real killer - not just to clear his own name, but to find justice for his dad.

Niall comments: 'Crusher is a story I have wanted to write for years, and it finally all came together last November, when my wife encouraged me to take part in the Nanowrimo novel-writing event. I am thrilled and delighted that RHCP have picked up Crusher for publication, and it's a fantastic honour to join the distinguished names on their writers' list.'

Crusher is set in and around Niall Leonard's patch of West London, where he lives with his wife and their two teenage sons. His wife recently won fame as a novelist in her own right when as EL James she created the publishing phenomenon Fifty Shades Trilogy.
