Many offices provide reduced fat and skim milk options alongside fruit bowls and water coolers which is fantastic for you and your health. Yet, every birthday there is a cake and come Friday its chocolate, lollies, chips and pizza day…

I know that it seems easier to grab a slice of pizza or a chocolate bar for a quick energy boost whilst being glued to the computer screen but seeking out a healthier option will keep you energised for longer making it easier to work. Boost your health and nutrition by choosing the skim milk option, drinking water, eating fruit at 3pm and not overindulging on Friday's by choosing one option rather than all! Breakfast will actually prevent you running to the vending machine or ducking over to the milk bar for a sweet treat at 3pm whilst starting your metabolism earlier and allowing you to choose a better lunch option.
Breakfast Example: a low GI cereal with fruit or two pieces of wholemeal toast with your favourite spread.

Preparation is the key; bringing your lunch and snacks to work (even if you prepare it the night before) will mean you can take your food from the fridge and eat it without leaving the office and often homemade lunch is the healthier option and not only because you know exactly what you're putting into your sandwiches and meals. Preparation is also important with dinner also, if you're stuck back at work and leave thinking about dinner until you're absolutely starving you'll grab the high-fat option - pre plan your dinner meals when you know you'll be working late.
Lunch Example: Homemade soups with bread on the side or a homemade salad with leftover meat from dinner or a can of tuna.

Temptation Friday's will get the best of us especially when surrounded by chocolate, lollies, chips and pizza. The best thing to do is choose one of the options and have a small serving because realistically who can say no to all the delicious treats, especially on a Friday! Choose your option and pair it with a glass of water and fruit!

Water is the best drink and whilst it can be easy to grab a coffee, soft drink or juice when you need a boost - reach for the fruit bowl instead!

By surrounding yourself with healthy snacks and pre-prepared lunches you can ensure you will be the healthiest member of your office and will enjoy the Friday snack even more!
