What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I went through a whole firefighter stage. Imagine if you're three years old and you are still learning about bladder control and you think you're a firefighter and you wake up.....need I say more? (laughs) I also wanted to be a policeman as well!

How did you get to where you are today?

I had a brief stint at Triple M, that was really my first taste in radio and I thought, wow how much fun! I then worked at Hitzfm when I was thirteen and did community radio for six years. TTFM offered me a job so I stayed there for a couple of years hosting "The Captain Turntable Show", then I worked at Nova in Sydney and now I am at Nova in Melbourne.

Have your career expectations changed along the way?

I'm still guessing at what my career expectations are. I don't know exactly where I want to be and I don't think I really need to be just yet.

What is a fun aspect of your job?

Everything is great especially getting to interview and meet amazing people. And I guess my job is different from most other jobs in the fact that people get to hear my work everyday. I love that part of it.

What is the worst aspect of your job?

The hours definitely throw you out and things can get a bit hectic.

What is the best advice given to you?

To keep your feet on the ground and to not get carried away with all the hype and publicity.

Can you name anyone in particular who has played an integral role along the road to your success?

There have been so many people a lot of the people at Hitzfm have played a huge role especially a guy called Rod Cuddihy who came up with the name "Captain Turntable" and from there, Mike Perso from TT and the people from Nova as well Dean Buchanan and Dan Bradley who reeled me in. They are definitely good people.

Have you ever had a mentor or still have one now?

I guess it's all those same people, I am still in touch with them all. Actually there is one person I didn't mention and that is John Deeks. We stay in touch every so often and he makes sure I am still doing what I do and he listens out which is kinda nice to have someone like that.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

It is such a fickle industry so it's hard to say, which is why I am still at University finishing my degree, because who knows what might happen in the future. I would ideally love to do TV and Film work as well.

What is your ultimate dream?

I would love to host a TV variety program.

Put the following in order of importance to you: Money, Happiness, Success, Recognition, Personal Fulfillment.

Happiness, Personal Fulfillment, Recognition, Success, Money

- Michelle Palmer & Annemarie Failla
