THE GATEWAY
Rialto Distribution's upcoming sci-fi thriller, THE GATEWAY, has triumphed with 4 major wins at the 2017 Austin Revolution Film Festival, including Best Film, Best Visual Effects, Best Director, for John V. Soto, along with the Audience Award for Best Film.
On the local front, THE GATEWAY has been selected as Opening Night film for Sydney's SciFi Film Festival later this month and recently screened with great success at noted genre Festival, FilmQuest 2017 as well as CinefestOz.
Slated for a national theatrical release 7 December, THE GATEWAY stars Jacqueline McKenzie (Don't Tell, The Water Diviner, Romper Stomper) as a particle physicist who, following the sudden death of her husband, uses a revolutionary machine to travel to a parallel world to find him again, with dire consequences for her family.
An impressive array of local talent stars alongside McKenzie in this keenly anticipated thriller, including Myles Pollard (Jasper Jones, Looking For Grace, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Ben Mortley (Lantana), Haley McElhinney (The Babadook), Shannon Berry (Hunters) and, courtesy of WAAPA, Ryan Panizza.
Said Director, John V. Soto, 'The entire cast give great performances, but Jacqueline and Myles are just outstanding. Audiences love the sci-fi elements too. It's a film that certainly makes for a fun experience!"
THE GATEWAY is scheduled for a 2018 launch across North America by US distributor, Gravitas Ventures. Gravitas Ventures have acquired all rights, including theatrical, and the film will be retitled Alpha Gateway for its USA and Canadian release.
Produced by Filmscope Entertainment, THE GATEWAY was directed by Soto who co-wrote the film with author Michael White. Executive Producers include Malcolm and Kate Rudd, Deborah and Neal Munson and Coppelia Tingley, together with Pauline Chan and Gia Zhang RenJie from Chinese production company Beijing Cheetah Yassa.
