MELBOURNE'S FIRST COMBINED INNER-CITY DRIVE-IN AND OPEN-AIR CINEMA

Jefferson Ford's Sunset Drive-in launches at South Melbourne Market's rooftop car park

An exciting new era awaits Melbourne's inner-city film lovers, with the introduction of Jefferson Ford's Sunset Drive-In, combining drive-in and open-air cinema, and launching its inaugural season on Thursday, January 21 with a screening of George Miller's classic. Mad Max.

Situated on the rooftop car park of the iconic South Melbourne Market, Sunset Drive-In will operate every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night with two seasons, concluding at the end of April. The screening program will consist of classics and cult favourites, catering to many tastes - from Mad Max and Mad Max 2 to Juno; from Reservoir Dogs to Romeo & Juliet; from Pulp Fiction to Zoolander; from Priscilla: Queen of the Desert to Slumdog Millionaire - to name a few.

From 7.00pm, when the Sunset Drive-in doors open, guests may enter either in their cars, or on foot if they prefer to utilize the open-air seating (deck chairs provided*). At sundown each night (approximately 8.30pm), the main feature will commence on an inflatable screen, projected from high grade commercial digital equipment running directly from a High Definition media server or Blu-ray/DVD, with audio transmitted through a nominated FM frequency.

South Melbourne Market is renowned for its diverse range of culinary delights, and Sunset Drive-In patrons will have the opportunity to sample the fare of selected food and beverage vendors at their rooftop stalls.

Tickets to Jefferson Ford's Sunset Drive-In are available from Monday evening, 11/01/10 at Moshtix outlets (www.moshtix.com.au). Open-Air: $20 adults; $16 concession; $13 children under 15 years. Drive-in: $16 adults; $13 concession; $13 children; $50 families (two adults & two children). Booking fees apply. Also available on the door (cash sales only).

* Seating for open-air viewing is limited, and the deck chairs are available on a first in, best-dressed basis. Guests may bring their own blankets, deck chairs or bean bags.
