ABC Video is pleased to announce that Bedtime Series 1 is now available on DVD. Featuring an ensemble cast including BAFTA nominated actress Shelia Hancock, Timothy West and Stephen Tompkinson, Bedtime is a moving and compelling comedy-drama set in the bedrooms of adjoining houses, in an ordinary street in an ordinary London suburb.

Written by Andy Hamilton, from the critically acclaimed Hat Trick productions (Drop the Dead Monkey, Father Ted, The Kumars at Number 42), the six-part series follows the night time rituals of three contrasting couples at different stages of their lives and relationships; retired Alice and Andrew Oldfield, 20 year-old Sapphire with her mysterious visitor, new parents Paul and Sarah Newcombe.

Behind the curtains in the last half hour of their day, the Oldfield's explosive conversation reflects the diversity of their personalities as they 'discuss' everything from globalisation to an open bedroom window. Beyond the frustrations, however, they still share a daughter, who they worry is trapped in an abusive marriage.

The Newcombes are a lovely young couple who might be better capable of living up to the image if they weren't exhausted from their baby who won't sleep and Paul's ridiculous work hours. It is just Sarah's worn out mind that imagines an affair?

Sapphire doesn't sleep either, but that has more to do with her torrid affair with Gulliver, a married celebrity TV gardener. Ruby, the tabloid newspaper journalist determined to expose the affair, has Sapphire playing cat and mouse.

The characters are commonplace but this series proves that nothing is ordinary.
