The Alannah and Madeline Foundation - a national charity protecting children from violence.
Children365- a national initiative of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation that encourages people to celebrate children every day of the year.
The Victorian State Government is proud to partner with The Alannah and Madeline Foundation by hosting a family fun day to launch Children365.
The event at Melbourne Museum is set to feature kite and puppet making workshops, celebrity guests, children's book author appearances, sport and games, arts and crafts.
On the first day of Children365 each year, adults will also be encouraged to make promises and declarations about their children for the year ahead:
3 reasons I love my children
6 ways they make me smile
5 things we will do together this year.
The concept was developed after the tragic death of Darcey Freeman.
Following the loss of their precious little girl, Darcey's mother and her family suggested an annual day to cherish all children. They asked The Alannah and Madeline Foundation to help make it a reality.
The launch of this initiative on the final day of Children's Week 2009 signifies the end of a week of celebrating children and the commitment to cherish and protect our children every day of the year.
