Chicago - All That Jazz

Chicago - All That Jazz

The dazzling Academy Award winning spectacular of music and dance is now out of DVD and Video.

Set in 1929, when the world is a stage, vaudeville star Velma Kelley (Catherine Zeta-Jones) discovers her two-timing husband in the arms of her sister. When the two lovers are found shot dead, Velma is imprisoned for their murders.

Meanwhile Roxie Hart (Renee Zellweger) an aspiring performer is cheating on her naïve husband Amos (John C. Reilly). Believing her lover can assist her in her quest for stardom, she pulls a gun on him when she finds out he is merely a furniture salesman and winds up in jail alongside her idol...

Through the eyes of Roxie, the film skillfully shifts between reality and fantasy. Behind bars on Chicago's infamous murderess' row, tensions climax as the two fight for freedom and fame and vie for the attention of wily legal eagle Billy Flynn (Richard Gere).

Known for his serious roles, Richard Gere reveals a sly sense of humour in his role in Chicago, while rapper Queen Latifah delivers an earthy sexiness as the prison matron. Story is lined with betrayal and rivalry is based on the award winning Broadway play and sizzles with depression-era style. The film showcases celebrities' pursuit for frame and the public's lust for tabloid tales and rumour.

Good girl, Renee Zellweger, shows are more cunning and devilish side while Richard Gere shows us how crafty he can be.
