Genre-disruptor and vocal innovator, Charlotte Roberts is excited to welcome listeners to step into her intimate world of sound-body-movement practice as she unveils the remainder of her highly anticipated second record, Incantations. Deploying the voice not as a mere extension of herself, but as the absolute core of her artistry, her musical practice and her very being, Charlotte has carved out a sizable corner of the music industry where art, music and movement collide. Charlotte's debut record Stay In Your Power (2018) saw industry and fans alike flock to bask in its visceral and dynamic sounds which managed to navigate an entire universe of emotions and impressions all from a single voice. Now with a slew of dedicated fans in tow, the intuitive songwriter and spirited performer is thrilled to finally reveal her impressive 2021 follow up, Incantations out Tuesday 6 April.

"This album feels like an emergent dance-album that transforms and moves me, and is inviting me one step closer towards my yearning to record the more spacious, intimate, nature-based and meditational pieces that often emerge from vocal improvisation collaborations and when I'm facilitating The Musical Body process. In Incantations; I'm exploring the nature of  my body and voice  and how I relate to inner and outer landscapes. These pieces emerged in a wave of improvisations through movement and singing in nature and at home- and connected me to some of the people and places that have shaped me as a person." – Charlotte Roberts

Featuring previously released album favourite 'Dreams Are Made Of' and back-to-back ancestor tracks 'Grandad Song' and 'Grandmar Song', Incantations has already proven to be a very personal survey of Charlotte's own mind, body, soul and voice. The album's latest focus single 'Hum My Heart' speaks directly to the album's intended purpose of deep self-exploration. Utilising a repetition of chants, and their innate hypnotic qualities to investigate and draw meaning from her own lived experiences, Charlotte has created a stunning aural escapist world for both herself and listeners to retreat to and seek solace within.

"During their birthing; the songs, like spells or medicine, allowed me to recognise moment-to-moment choices to follow my intuition; or fight against it. The songs were created between 2017 and 2018; a time when I was launching my debut album Stay In Your Power, realising that making albums was a fundamental artistic 'must' in my life and where and  where I was letting go of unhealthy relationships and stepping more towards vitality and thriving." – Charlotte Roberts

Charlotte Roberts will celebrate the release of her Incantations album in Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country, on Sunday 2 May in Newham, Victoria, with performance installations by Charlotte and guest artists in key spots where she sang and danced as a child growing up, along with sharing food.
