The Big Hug Books series grew from letters sent to children and their families after their psychology sessions―so each book has its origins in a real problem and the suggested strategy. The Big Hug books deal with emotive issues that children face in direct and gentle terms, allowing children's feelings and problems to be more easily shared and discussed with family and friends.

Author Shona Innes is a qualified clinical and forensic psychologist with many years of experience assisting children in times of trouble. The warm and funny illustrations by Irisz Agócs engage with the reader and helps them to understand the message contained within the book.
