Barry Brisco Puppetry Of The Penis Interview
The muchloved hilariously nuts spectacle that is Puppetry Of The Penis, is returning down-under for an action packed tour across the country. The show will stop at 24 cities across Australia from 2nd February through to 28th April.
Continuing to be one of Australia's greatest theatrical exports, Puppetry of the Penis has now played to most of the Western World. The show has been hosted in over 35 countries and performed in six languages. Two near naked men (they wear shoes) manipulate their nether regions using the Ancient Art of Genital Origami, providing the audience with a hilarious array of shapes and impersonations which will be projected onto a huge video screen.
This latest incarnation comes fresh from Sin City itself, where the show has been thrilling audiences for the last two years, and will feature the stellar cast direct from Las Vegas, Rich Binning and Barry Brisco.
It features all your favourites, including the Eiffel Tower, the Lochness Monster, the Pelican and of course, the iconic Hamburger, but will also include a host of new installations, such as Miley Cyrus, Yoda, and the Kardashian, that promise to rock you into hilarious fits of laughter.
Simon Morley, Creator & Puppeteer, said: 'We are so excited to be bringing the show back down under again, the Australian audience is always amazing and ready to have some fun. I'm sure they are going to love the incredible talents of Rich & Barry, straight from Las Vegas."
Puppetry Of The Penis is the perfect show for all occasions. Break the ice on that all important first date, thrill your friends with a birthday to remember, celebrate your divorce with a bang, and of course, this is the perfect Hen party show!
We understand the title can be a little scary, but be rest assured we are experts at talking about our show in the cleanest possible way. It's just comedy after all.
This is a non-sexual show and does contain full frontal male nudity.

5 Reasons To See Puppetry Of The Penis 1) It's educational. Normally when someone gets close to a man's flaccid genitalia, it becomes something very different, very quickly. This is your chance to look at them 3 stories high and see what men do whilst all alone with their appendage.
2) It's liberating. To laugh out loud at a man's penis can be a very dangerous thing. In some countries it can still get you killed, at the very least you will crush his spirit. We encourage you to let it go, laugh out loud, and celebrate what is without a doubt the oddest-looking piece of human anatomy.
3) Frighten your friends. This is your chance to scare the daylights out of your most prudish friends. Wait till they see the hamburger! They scream at the screen, whilst you watch them.
4) Bond with Nana. It might have been a while since your Gran or Nana has seen one of these, so get her out of the house for a night she will never forget.
5) And lastly, this show is for men too. It is commonly thought that this is a show for women. While it has proven more popular with women this show was born in male sporting change rooms. Nothing sexual, not gay, just primitive male art.
Interview with Barry Brisco
Question: What should Australians expect from the Puppetry Of The Penis show?
Barry Brisco: If you've seen the show before, come see it again as it won't be the same Puppetry Of The Penis; it is a very Americanised/Vegas show of Puppetry Of The Penis; expect high energy and full-on, bring-it fun.
Question: What inspired you to join Puppetry Of The Penis?
Barry Brisco: The fun! I actually joined the team when Puppetry Of The Penis was relatively new as they'd just started touring the States, in 2003. I joined for the simple fact, it was so crazy, so crazy that most people wouldn't do it – like bungy jumping (you see people doing it and think -what is that?).
Question: Can you tell us about the audition process?
Barry Brisco: I didn't actually audition; I met the fellas at a festival, in Scotland, in 2000; I was in another sold-out show across the courtyard from Puppetry Of The Penis. Security snuck me and my friend into Puppetry Of The Penis and we were standing close to the front of the stage when they called for audience participation and I raised my hand. The team was surprised because they'd never had a bloke volunteer and after that I went out for drinks and of course we ended up doing tricks! Several pints later and many tricks on, we became friends; two years later I joined the show when Puppetry Of The Penis was trying something different in Australia, the last time. I wrote myself into the show as a third puppeteer for an Australia tour.
Question: What goes into pre-show preparation?
Barry Brisco: (laughs) what a nice way to ask that question (laughs)! Pre-show preparation includes a nice cup of warm tea, vocal warm-ups and of course we warm ourselves up (which can work completely against you because the body does what the body does). Obviously temperature is important… pre-show preparation can be whatever it wants it to be but as soon as you take that cape off… The writers cleverly wrote in, right after we take our capes off, we actually do our fluffing right on stage, in front of everybody!
Question: What is your favourite trick?
Barry Brisco: My favourite trick would have to be one of the newer tricks; the Miley Cyrus.
Question: How important is audience participation to the success of a show?
Barry Brisco: Audience participation is very important which is why we're happy we're coming back to Australia. We've introduced a second audience participation - we'll have a lady on stage to do a trick with her and now we actually invite gentlemen to come on stage to learn how to make a burger in front of the audience – it's had an amazing response. We're excited to come to Australia because Australians like to get their penises out – it's a complete different vibe especially because Australia is where the show came from.
Americans will come and see the show and almost peak around the corner but in Australia we're not going to have to worry about, any of that; we'll easily get guys and girls up on stage. In Vegas we've had lots of Aussies come up, on stage, they know what's going on and they're down for Puppetry Of The Penis.
Question: What's the funniest feedback you've had to a show?
Barry Brisco: Oooh… let me think. They say all kinds of things! Actually, one time, I stopped on stage as we had a same-sex couple in the audience, with their arms folded, they didn't look like they were having a good time and finally in a really quiet moment one said 'see I told you, you can do way more with a penis, than what we do" (laughs); the audience laughed, so hard.
