As the dust settles on the carbon tax issue, the CHUX Sustainable Survey has found that 69% of Australians say the introduction of carbon tax will prompt them to reassess their household purchases and choose greener options.
Long term Aussie household favourite, CHUX, has now launched a new range of 100 per cent Biodegradable Superwipes, 100 per cent Biodegradable Absorbent Cloths, and Non-Scratch Scourer Sponges that are made from recyclable material and natural fibres; even the packaging uses soy-based inks.
"These days environmental concern is not only a topical issue, but an everyday consideration for Australian homes when choosing household products," says CHUX spokesperson, Megan Francis.
The Survey showed almost all Aussies are buying green products with the planet in mind: 44% believe doing so will help the planet, and 53% say it they feel good to 'do their little bit' for the environment.
But performance is still the final decider - in fact more than 90% of Australians surveyed say they would choose greener products for their homes on the condition that it matched the price and performance of regular cleaning products.
"Sustainability is no longer an afterthought, but a key consideration when buying cleaning products.
"Australian consumers are eco-conscious, but what the CHUX Sustainable Survey also confirmed is that 64% of Australians expect the performance of green products to match that of regular cleaning goods," says Francis.
"Consumers want to be able to shop with a conscience and clean with confidence," says Francis.
The CHUX Sustainable Survey found 64% of Australian women claim that cleaning is the most time consuming household task, with two in three revealing that they spend between 30 minutes to two hours a day cleaning.
When it comes to how Aussies clean; one in four Aussies are 'relaxed re-setters'. These people take day-to-day mess in their stride and re-set their home within short breaks, several times a day to keep their 'homely' house is in order.
Some 33% consider themselves 'neat freaks' - obsessed with everything having to be in its place, and 31% prefer 'organised chaos'.
Pet cleaning hates for most CHUX Sustainable Survey respondents are overflowing rubbish bins and dirty dishes strewn around the house - which were found to be the top two most annoying habits when it comes to making a mess.
Since CHUX launched in 1968, its products have offered continuously long-lasting performance. This is also evident in the new range, which provides Australians with an ideal balance of recycled and biodegradable products that continue to offer cleaning performance.
"Eco-products are no longer niche; some Australians now feel they have a duty to preserve the environment, even when doing their household chores. As a result, CHUX has launched three new and effective products in line with the 97% of consumers who have the planet in mind when choosing greener products," concludes Francis.
Whether Australians are strongly eco-conscious when cleaning their homes, or just trying to do their little bit, sustainability is definitely on the agenda - and the shopping list. For more information visit www.facebook.com/chuxproducts.
