The best of the next generation of budding artists will have their artwork on display at this year's largest metropolitan exhibition, ARTEXPRESS at the Armory at Sydney Olympic Park.
The FREE exhibition, featuring 2014 HSC Visual Arts students' major works, will open to the public at the Armory Gallery on Tuesday 3rd March and run daily from 10am to 4pm until Sunday 26 April (inclusive).
The 11th annual ARTEXPRESS at the Armory will exhibit hundreds of the best works of art created by 64 students from schools across all of NSW.
The exhibition is assembled for the fourth year in a row by respected curator, Danielle Gullotta, and the works at this year's exhibition will be linked by the theme Focus.
'ARTEXPRESS at the Armory 2015 will explore the theme of Focus. To focus is to give attention, close study or to even narrow your field of vision in order to gain an insight or better understanding of an issue. Focus is required by an artist to resolve a body of work and by audiences to make personal connections to an artwork," she said.
'For the last 12 months, these talented young people have been focusing on their body of work. Students have been inspired by the material, sensory and imagined world they experience.
'The bodies of work exhibited reveal how these creative individuals have responded to personal experiences, family histories, consumer culture and current affairs. Students also found inspiration in the study of contemporary art and art of the past."
ARTEXPRESS at the Armory 2015 features a number of forms of expressive art including painting, photomedia, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, graphic design, documented forms, textiles and fibre, ceramics and time-based forms.
ARTEXPRESS at the Armory 2015 will be hosting FREE Curator Talks from 12pm Sunday 8 March and Sunday 19 April.
There will also be FREE Kids in the Park school holiday workshops running on Tuesday 7 April and Tuesday 14 April from 10am-12 pm.
