Are Personal Trainers Ripping People Off?

Controversial Fitness duo Sharny and Julius have taken aim at Personal Trainers claiming  'they are ripping people off".

The couple, who are authors of 3 fitness bestsellers and creators of obstacle training program 8 week athlete, have reacted to a complaint by a personal trainer on their facebook page, as a result of their controversial views on obesity.

'You so called fitness experts disgust me.  Obesity in this country and the world is such a complex issue and all trainers like you do is bring the fitness industry down" said the complainant.

Julius says 'We get our fair share of complaints about our honest approach, but this one epitomised everything that is wrong with the fitness industry. The fitness industry is becoming slimy, with trainers selling themselves at an unaffordable rate to -save' people from obesity.  It is no wonder the personal training industry is getting a reputation for being rip offs, because they are.

'Obesity really is a simple issue, but it serves the fitness industry to make it complex, because the more complex they can make it appear, the more the client feels they can't do it without them.

'Pretending you feel sorry for someone is insulting.  Taking their money for more exercise, when they have a food addiction is ripping them off" concludes Julius.

The couple say that trainers who are too scared to talk about their client's excuses should start doing it, or find another career.  A lot of clients only get to see one personal trainer in their lives because it's expensive, so they deserve results.

'You don't go to a doctor to entertain your excuses, you go there to fix a problem".  Says Sharny

'Some doctors are hard, some are gentle, but they all fix the issue the same way.  Why can't personal trainers be the same?"

Sharny and Julius say personal trainers should learn to:
Stop thinking about money, and help people achieve a result
Most people just need their excuses exposed and debunked
Identify the problem and find a solution, don't fit the problem into your 'solution"
If you can't help them, refer them to a specialist

Sharny says 'A person who can't control their eating, needs counselling about why they can't control their eating.  Signing that person up to your bootcamp will just increase their hunger.   If you can't talk about their eating, refer them to someone who will".
