These April school holidays, kids can imagine life as the crew aboard the HMS Discovery during the new fun-packed, interactive learning experience at The Rocks Discovery Museum.
From Monday 14 to Thursday 24 April, kids from four to 12 years can get involved in a simulated 1792 ships deck and wharf area for the voyage of HMS Discovery from Portsmouth, England to Sydney Cove.
It is four years after the First Fleet arrived in Sydney, crops are failing and the colony needs supplies from England. HMS Discoverys crew will be briefed by the captain to help stock the ship with stores for the colony and unravel the challenges of life at sea as they navigate the journey from Portsmouth to Sydney Cove.
HMS Discovery takes place on the top floor of The Rocks Discovery Museum and the one hour hands-on session costs $11 per child.
The program can be booked for schools, groups and birthday parties for a date and time of your choice through Sydney Learning Adventures.
The Rocks Discovery Museum is a free, family friendly museum which tells the story of The Rocks area of Sydney from pre-European days to the present.
Housed in a restored 1850s sandstone warehouse, The Rocks Discovery Museum is home to a unique collection of images and archaeological artefacts found in The Rocks. The exhibits are filled with interactive fun, using touch screens, audio and visual elements to bring the history of the area alive.
