ACMI is primed for kids and families to make the most of the cold weather with a packed schedule of indoor activities including award-winning kids' flicks screenings, a huge list of creative workshops including popular favourites and brand new offerings, plus Little Big Shots, a film festival curated especially for kids. From June to August 2016, ACMI's Winter in Motion program will keep imaginations alight and bellies full with a free kids meal offer for holders of valid Kids' Flicks tickets when they purchase a main meal at the ACMI Café & Bar on the day of their screening!
To celebrate ACMI's SCORSESE exhibition, ACMI screens a 3D version of Martin Scorsese's Hugo, which picked up five Oscars, two BAFTAs and a Golden Globe in 2012. Other films include the new Anne of Green Gables film along with two titles screening exclusively at ACMI: the first one follows the lives of pampered cats Pim & Pom, and is based on the celebrated Dutch comic strip illustrated by Fiep Westendorp, and the second film is Antboy, a tale about a 12-year-old superhero, based on the popular Danish book series by Kenneth Bøgh.
After the recent refresh to ACMI's free, permanent Screen Worlds exhibition, the space features a slick new selection of games and a special Minecraft Zone, so it makes sense that the incredibly popular Massive Minecraft Movie and Family Minecraft creative workshops return to ACMI's school holiday program this winter. Creative workshop favourites including Make A Move, Make an Animation and Flip It and Spin It are on offer, alongside some brand new offerings like YouTube Starz, Makeup for Movies, Lego Robotics (and Family Lego Robotics). There is even an event for the youngest humans this winter – Tiny Tales, a dress up for 0 to 5 year-olds.
