The internationally acclaimed Seven Intellectuals in a Bamboo Forest (2003 – 2007) premiered as a five-part moving image installation at the Venice Biennale in 2007. Imbued with an avant-garde, film noir aesthetic, this now seminal work, made by one of the world's pioneering moving image artists, offers a glimpse into the contradictions and uncertainties facing China's urban youth today.
China Close Up: Talks and Live Events: Intermix: Wuxia on Film

In this revealing two-part exploration of the martial arts genre, Intermix will screen Ang Lee's modern classic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), followed by a discussion with Chinese cinema expert Dr. Peter Gravestock about the resurgence of the martial arts genre, and the debt it owes to the pioneering Hong Kong studios of the 1950s and '60s.

The first Australian survey exhibition of China's pre-eminent moving image artist, Yang Fudong, comprises three seminal video installations, as well as The Coloured Sky: New Women II (2014), a brand-new five-channel work that has been proudly commissioned by ACMI and the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
