Barbara (the sublime Nina Hoss) is a skilled doctor banished to a rural East German town as punishment for applying for an exit visa. Regarded with suspicion and barely veiled hostility by the locals, Barbara steadfastly refuses to ingratiate herself, only revealing her considerable reserves of compassion and skill in the treatment of her patients. Despite her self-contained demeanour, she does not escape the notice of the hospital's head physician, a younger male doctor who harbours his own secrets.

Create costumes for your own cut-out characters in our free, drop-in workshop. Kids can get creative and learn the basics of designing a costume using simple cut-out techniques for a well-known movie character or one they've created themselves.
