Frankie and his best mate Peter McShane (Ben Batt) are up for it and out on the town. But their bravado turns sour ending in a fight and they're arrested. Peter, a champion amateur boxer, is about to follow in his dad's footsteps and join the army. Frankie decides to do the same to avoid a prison sentence.
