Set in the 1920's, A Heart Elsewhere is a warm hearted romance with a bittersweet tragi-comic streak.

Nello Balocchi, (Nero Marcore) a shy, thirty-five year old teacher, is invited to Bologna by his father Cesare (Giancarlo Giannini) who owns the Papal tailor's shop in Rome, in the hope that he will find a wife and thus produce an heir for the family business.

Nello stays in a guest-house run by Arabella, a wise woman who knows all about his situation, and shares a room with Domenico, a crafty barber from Naples. After several unsuccessful efforts at romance, Nello meets Angela, (Vanessa Incontrada) an exuberant, beautiful young blind girl with whom he falls hopelessly in love. Angela's father and Nello's parents do not approve of the relationship, but the real problem is Angela's temperament.

    Review:
A sentimental Italian love story with gentle comedy. A successful recreation of an Italian village of yesteryear. A warm film with it's yellows & browns of autumn.
