In its new 2016 Europe portfolio, luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent is keenly focused on the experiential, previewing a number of different and unique options for the discerning traveller.

In Moscow include a backstage tour of the Bolshoi Theatre, or a private dinner at Ephesus set against the Library of Celsus with a performance by the Izmir Symphony Orchestra, or a tour of Venice's secret gardens behind its majestic palazzos, or any of the other myriad unique opportunities that A&K's Travel Specialists can incorporate into a bespoke itinerary.

What's new for 2016?

Small Ship Cruising
An expanded luxury cruise portfolio features some new small ship offerings including Sea Cloud Cruises. The fleet's two vessels, Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud II, are majestic windjammers sailed in the traditional manner of tall ships. The atmosphere on board each is sophisticated yet relaxed, with a maximum of 94 guests and a crew of around 60. Personalised service is a highlight and cabins are perfectly designed with plenty of space, cosy surrounds and elegant furnishings. Sea Cloud cruises operate in the Caribbean and Cuba, Costa Rica and Central America, the Transatlantic Voyage and Europe.

Luxury Small Group Journeys
New to A&K's luxury small group journey portfolio is a two-week discovery journey through Spain and Portugal, with highlights including a privately guided tour of Madrid's Prado Museum, stunning hotels like the Hotel Marques de Riscal designed by Frank Gehry, a tapas tour and an exploration of Cordoba on foot. Tours operate in May, June, September and October 2016, with prices from USD $9,395 per person and a maximum of 18 guests.

Also new is a 9-day journey through Scotland incorporating stays at renowned hotels such as Gleneagles and the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian, a visit to Stirling Castle, sightseeing in Edinburgh and newly cosmopolitan Glasgow as well as an afternoon at Rothiemurchus family estate, a leading whisky distillery. Tours operate May, Jun, July and September with prices from USD $6,595 per person and a maximum of 18 guests.

Private Journeys
For the luxury independent traveller in Europe, there's a delightful new 8-day journey through north eastern Italy focusing on the famous produce of the region – the Prosciutto di San Daniele, Prosecco, grappa, olives and asparagus to name a few. Highlights include visiting a Venetian bacari for wine and tasting plates, the glass blowers of Murano, exquisite Palladian villas, medieval monuments with incredible cuisine, wine tastings and atmospheric lodgings along the way. The 8-day journey is priced from $9,655 per person.

Also new is a short exploration of Montenegro staying at the stunning Aman Sveti Stefan, which is set on a beautiful little Adriatic island first settled by 15th century fishermen. Wild, beautiful and unspoiled, Montenegro has plenty to offer including ancient fortified Venetian settlements, dramatic mountains, pristine beaches, simple stone villages and Baroque churches which are all included on A&K's 6-day -Montenegro Revealed' journey priced from $7,745 per person.

Another new itinerary takes in three of Eastern Europe's most exciting cities – Berlin, Dresden and Prague – and their many cultural attractions. A&K's 10-day -Wonders of Eastern Europe' journey is priced from $10,815 per person.

In Turkey, the sophisticated Amanruya on the Bodrum Peninsula is offered as an extension to the best-selling Treasures of Turkey. The 4-day program is priced from $3,995 per person.

Connections
The new -Art & Architecture Along the Rhine' tour includes a 7-night Rhine cruise aboard the sleek and spacious Amadeus Silver III. Highlights include a tour of the Vitra Design Museum in Basel, wines of the Alsace region, artworks spanning several schools at Cologne's Museum Ludwig and time exploring the architecture of Amsterdam. The 11-day tour operates 31 July and 11 September 2016 with prices from USD6,195 and a maximum of 24 guests.

Luxury Rail Journeys

New to the rail portfolio in 2016 is the Belmond Grand Hibernian, Ireland's first ever luxury touring train. Carrying just 40 guests in lavishly furnished, private en suite cabins, itineraries visit remote areas and exclusive attractions including ancient castles, famous whiskey distilleries and vibrant cities. There are 2, 4 and 6-night journeys departing from Dublin and encompassing both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The 3-day -Realm of Giants' journey is priced from $4,470 per person.
