2014 Mother's Day Classic Bandana Competition

The hunt is on to 'crowdsource' the design of the official 2014 Mother's Day Classic bandana, worn by thousands of participants as they walk or run in support of breast cancer research every May.

The bandana represents a symbol of hope for runners of the Mother's Day Classic, whether they are survivors, or families and friends of loved ones.

Network 9 Newsreader Jo Hall, artist Lisa Sewards and cancer survivor Annette Sparks have joined forces with the Mother's Day Classic, calling on designers of all levels and skill to submit their designs to be considered – and they've turned to social media for help!

Professional or amateur designers or any supporter of the Mothers Day Classic are encouraged to enter via the official Mothers Day Class Bandana Facebook page.

The top 10 most popular bandana designs based on public votes will be shortlisted for the final honour of being selected as the official 2014 bandana.

2013 bandana designer, artist Lisa Sewards, said 'It is an honour to design the bandana for the Mother's Day Classic. That the public has a chance to create and chose this year's design is a powerful symbol of community spirit."

'We're looking for a message of hope, of love and support for the 2014 bandana design," said Jo Hall, ambassador for the Mother's Day Classic.

'However you wear it, the wearing of the bandana is a symbol for everyone touched by the effects of breast cancer – either personally, or through friends and families. This is your chance to get involved."

The Facebook competition is open until 13 September 2013 with the winning bandana available for purchase in the lead up to the 2014 event, with 100 per cent of the proceeds donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). ME Bank will also donate an $1,000 to the NBCF on behalf of the winning designer.
