While Santa travels well over 40,000km in one night delivering presents to boys and girls all over the world, Variety's Santa Fun Run is only 5km long and there's no need for magical sleighs and flying reindeer as participants can run or walk as they see -fit'. Starting at Brisbane Riverstage in Brisbane City, the famous and colourful run continues through South Bank, along the edge of the river and back where they started THIS SUNDAY DECEMBER 1 from 7am.
There'll be runners of all sorts - professionals to weekend warriors, avid walkers, family groups, high strollers, fitness leaders, fitness followers, general waddlers, wanderers and more. Families from ALL OVER BRISBANE take part in the run. Included in the cost of registration, is a Santa outfit which all runners are asked to wear on December 1, resulting in an impressive array of red suits and white beards cruising through the river city in an eye-catching display of generosity and fun.
Last year, Variety with the help of Santa fun runners raised over $75,000 and with this year's event less than two months away, locals are encouraged to register now to help Variety reach their fundraising goal for 2013, enabling them to support and empower Queensland children who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs to live, laugh and learn.
Variety - the Children's Charity is dedicated to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs to LIVE, LAUGH and LEARN. Each month in Queensland alone, Variety receives over $300,000 worth of appeal requests for children in need. Through grants to children who are sick, disadvantaged and who have special needs, Variety – the Children's Charity fills a vital gap between what families, schools and communities are able to afford and what our special kids need to lead engaged and fulfilling lives.
